The bench promise
Every disc · 30 minutes on power
No drop-shipping. Stock goes through the bench in Unit 12 before it ships. Consoles get 30 minutes on a CRT or Trinitron — we listen for fan whirr, watch the boot sequence, check disc-tray motor noise. Cartridges get a save-battery probe and an etiketten check. If it does not pass, it does not go up.
Honest condition notes are written by hand on the packing slip — including the bits manufacturers wish you would forget about pre-owned plastic.

Orders submitted before 16:00 GMT on a working day are at the local Royal Mail depot before the 18:00 collection. Tracking lands in your inbox the moment they scan the bag. Royal Mail typically delivers in 1 working day across mainland UK — they don't formally guarantee it, but the bench rarely sees overshoots.

30 days back · faulty we cover
UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 grant you 14 days to cancel — we extend that to 30 by default. Email us, we send the RMA number and the return address. Refund clears within 14 days of receipt (usually 2–4 working days).
If the item is faulty, we cover the return postage. On top of statutory rights, we voluntarily warrant function for 12 months on consoles.

Built for the shelf that hurts
The Tavern leans hard into difficult titles — roguelikes that punish, metroidvanias that ask you to backtrack with intent, soulslikes that fail you on the first boss. Indie studios pour everything into combat feel and level design with no AAA spread to lean on; that is the corner of the shelf we curate most.
Out of 75 titles on the shelf right now, 35 are tagged indie, roguelike, metroidvania or soulslike. Twenty more sit in AAA used (Witcher, RDR, Cyberpunk, Persona, Spider-Man). The rest are Japanese cult and racing/sport classics. Consoles fill the gear shelf to support older catalogue — PS Vita to PS5, Game Boy to Switch OLED, and the odd Saturn or Dreamcast when one walks in.
If you can't find what you want, write us — between Cash Converters scouts, eBay sniping and friend networks the bench can usually source a specific title in 7–14 days.
